Tonight was the first class meeting of 7301.40, better known as Intro to Doctoral Studies, Philosophy and Ethics. I am excited about the prospect of completing a doctorate, but at this point that is a long way off. I am think of keeping this blog as a place to publish my notes and thoughts as I roll through the process of obtaining my "terminal" degree. Could be cool as a finished product a few years down the road, and given the fact that web publishing at this point is just as easy as saving a word document - why not?
The few notes I have from this evening:
7301.40 – Intro to Doctoral Studies, Philosophy and Ethics - Dr. Twyla Miranda
Why am I here?
I think for the most part, the reason why I’m here is to earn my “terminal degree.” I have always believed so strongly in the value and power of education and always preach that value to students and faculty alike. I am really here to continue to practice what I preach. I am excited about the chance to continue to learn from other education professionals and also am excited about being a bona fide “expert” at something – not sure what at this point, but an expert none the less. The timing of why I am here has a lot to do with the fact that I have a 3 year-old at home and I would love to be using this degree while he is growing up rather than waiting for him to grow up to gain this degree.
Goals of the program:
Help you through the process, graduate in 4 years.
